Dale Dingmann
Outstanding Athlete
Baseball 1999–2000
As a highly recruited athlete from his home town high school, St. Cloud (MN) Tech, upon graduating, in fall 1996, Dale Dingmann headed off to Itascha Community College in Grand Rapids, MN, on a baseball scholarship. During his two years there, he established himself as one of the top pitchers in the Minnesota Junior College League while earning all-conference, all-region and all-academic honors. In 1998, he was again highly recruited, this time by four-year colleges and universities—including the University of Mary, which was entering only its fourth season of baseball and under new coach Steve Legrand.
Dale enrolled at the University of Mary in the fall of 1998 and immediately emerged as a leader. He went on to play two outstanding seasons for the Marauders as a pitcher and second baseman. During both the 1999 and 2000 seasons, Dale was named to the DAC-10 All-Conference, the all-region baseball team, and the NAIA All-Academic All-American Team. He also was voted Team MVP both years. As a senior, he served as team captain, was named Most Valuable Pitcher and earned NAIA All-American honorable mention honors.
But Dale’s legacy did not end when he hung up his jersey. After his eligibility ended, he stayed on as a student coach during the 2001 season, while completing a double-major in computer information systems and math and then went on to serve as a graduate assistant coach while completing his master’s in business management. His contributions as both a player and a coach, modeling service and leadership, were instrumental in the development of Marauders baseball. His pioneering efforts have made him truly worthy of being only the second U-Mary baseball player to be inducted into the Marauders Hall of Fame.
Employed at Border States Electric in Fargo, ND, as an Application Administration Team Lead, Dale lives with his wife, Rochelle, and their daughters Hailey and Kennedie in Moorhead, MN. Dale is the son of Arnold and Renee Dingmann of Clear Lake, MN.
