    Track & Field - Men's

One of the most successful throwers in University of Mary men’s track & field team history, Brandon Ralph was a two-time All-American who earned multiple conference titles and helped lead the Marauders to four conference titles. A two-sport athlete for the Marauders, he also found success on the gridiron.

A native of Minot, ND, Ralph joined the Marauders for the 2000-01 season after transferring to Mary from the North Dakota State College of Science and immediately made an impact. After helping the Marauders earn the 2001 Dakota Athletic Conference men’s indoor track & field championship, Ralph won the outdoor conference championship in the shot put. It was the first of his three DAC-10 titles. As a junior in 2002, Ralph placed second in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw as the Marauders won another indoor title. The DAC-10 runner-up in the spring, Ralph earned his first All-American citation after placing eighth at the NAIA outdoor championships. In his senior season, winning was commonplace as Ralph won the indoor and outdoor DAC-10 shot put championships (the outdoor effort set a conference record) and the Marauders won both indoor and outdoor conference crowns. The 2003 outdoor team title was the first and remains the only for the men’s program. The individual highlight for the Marauders team captain, however, was a third place finish at the NAIA indoor championships to claim a second All-American plaque.

Ralph also found success on the football field at Mary, playing linebacker for the 2001 and 2002 DAC-10 champions and three NAIA playoff teams. An all-conference second team selection, he earned Marauders defensive player of the game honors four times.

A 2004 University of Mary graduate with a teaching degree in physical education, Ralph coached the Marauders throwers for 13 years. In that span, his student-athletes earned three All-American honors and multiple conference titles while owning eight out of ten event records. The son of Richard and Yvonne Ralph, Brandon currently is owner of Bruno’s Pizza in Bismarck.
