A standout pitcher for the Lady Marauder softball team from 1993-1996, Alison “Ali” Merk came to the University of Mary as a freshman in 1992 from Regina, Canada after being recruited by Head Softball Coach Brad Walsh.

Ali had an impressive career as a Lady Marauder. During her four-year stint, she recorded a near-perfect conference record with just one loss. She earned All-Conference honors all four seasons, All-District in 1994 and 1995 and All-Region in 1995 and 1996. Her overall record as a pitcher for U-Mary stands at 55-17 with an ERA of 1.28.

The 1994 softball team was the first team to qualify for the national tournament. Ali was a sophomore that season and pitched the Lady Marauders first recorded win at the NAIA National Tournament.

Today Ali lives in Regina, Canada where she teaches and coaches at Johnson High School. She is also working on a master’s degree from the University of Mary.
