Bismarck, ND – University of Mary Head Women's Soccer Coach
Sarah McNulty is proud to announce the Marauders 2013 recruiting class.
Allison Becker,
Kelsey Ekstedt,
Michelle McGeary,
Sydney Miller,
Alexis Nahring,
Zara O'Hagan and
Bailey Wenz will be joining U-Mary soccer in the fall of 2013.
Last season the Marauders finished the regular season on a six game winning streak and qualified for the Northern Sun post-season tournament for the seventh consecutive season.
Losing three seniors from last season, including two all-conference performers, Coach McNulty is excited to bring in a solid crop of talent to fill their shoes. This year's class of recruits will join a talented group of returners for U-Mary in the fall including All-Central Region and All Northern-Sun performer,
Alex Bachman-Williams.
Overall Coach McNulty is very optimistic about the outlook for next season.
“This class brings in a large amount of depth to our 2013 roster”, said McNultlty. “Every girl that is coming in can and will compete for playing time for us. They are all highly driven, self-motivated and academically sound student-athletes. I look forward to these additions and the start of the season.”
Allison Becker (D, 5-8, Ramsey, MN / Anoka HS)
Allison Becker, a native of Ramsey, Minn., attended Anoka High School under Head coach Paul Anderla. A 5-8 defender, Becker led her team to state in 2011 and was named all-conference in 2011. Becker plans to pursue a degree in nursing at U-Mary.

“Allison is a composed center back who will be adding a lot of depth to our team on defense. She plays with a maturity beyond her age and she should prove to be a huge asset to our team.”
Kelsey Ekstedt (GK, 5-8, Eagle Lake, MN / Mankato East HS)
Kelsey Ekstedt hails from Eagle Lake, Minn. where she attended Mankato East High School. Under the direction of Head Coach Akram Osman, the 5-8 goalkeeper was twice named all-conference and once named all-state honorable mention. Ekstedt is planning on majoring in exercise science at U-Mary.

“Kelsey brings a wealth of experience as a Goalkeeper. She has a broad base of experience playing throughout the United States with her TC Fire Premier Team. Kelsey is also very driven and we look forward to what she will bring to the table for our 2013 roster.”
Michelle McGeary (M, 5-9, Gillette WY / Campbell HS)
Michelle McGeary, a native of Gillette, Wyom., was named to the 2012 Wyoming 4A All-State Girls Soccer Team while at Campbell High School. A 5-9 midfielder, McGeary plans to major in physical therapy at U-Mary.

“Michelle is an all-around technically and tactically sound addition to our roster for 2013. She has great vision and maturity on the field and will likely be a key impact player for us in the Fall.”
Sydney Miller (M, 5-7, Bismarck, ND / St. Mary's Central HS)
Local talent,
Sydney Miller, will not have far to travel as she joins the U-Mary soccer team in 2013. While attending St. Mary's Central High School, Miller was named to the 2012 All-Tournament Team and was also named All-State. The 5-7 midfielder is currently undecided, but is looking into both nursing and physical therapy.

“Syd is a great hometown addition to our 2013 roster. She is very motivated and will bring a lot of depth to our roster for next season.”
Alexis Nahring (D/M, 5-6, Anoka, MN / Anoka HS)
Attending Anoka High School and playing for Head Coach Paul Anderla,
Alexis Nahring is a native of Anoka, Minn. Projected as either a defender or a midfielder for the Marauders, Nahring will enter the nursing program. Nahring helped Anoka reach the state tournament in 2011

Alexis Nahring:
“Alex Nahring is a tenacious outside back who has the willingness to advance up the field and join the attack. She plays with a more aggressive style of play, which will give us a physical presence on the field.”
Zara O'Hagan (M, 5-9, Strabane, Northern Ireland / Holy Cross College)
A 5-9 midfielder,
Zara O'Hagan, played her prep career at Holy Cross College where she was coached by Gerard Boyle. Hailing from Northern Ireland, O'Hagan will give the Marauders some international experience. The Strabane native has been a part of three Tesco Cup teams, two league titles and one Disney Cup. O'Hagan currently plays for the U19 Northern Ireland International Team.
A successful student as well, O'Hagan will join U-Mary with four years of eligibility and plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice.

Zara O'Hagan:
“Zara will bring a great physical presence to our team for 2013. She is very strong on the ball, and has a hard-working mentality. She is also very well rounded technically and tactically. Zara's international experience and knowledge of the game will be a huge asset to our team.”
Bailey Wenz (GK, 5-8, Gillette, WY / Western Nebraska CC)
The only transfer of the 2013 recruiting class,
Bailey Wenz joins U-Mary after playing two seasons at Western Nebraska Community College. The 5-8 goalkeeper originally hails from Gillette Wyoming where she attended Campbell County High School. Wenz will enter the special education program in the fall.

“Bailey is a great addition to the team and brings a wealth of collegiate experience and depth into the team from the goalkeeping position.”
